We do not need a mirror or a best friend to tell us when we are overweight. We have been there so many times before and just know we are in for a lot of pain.
Do not let this distract you from the main goal - weight loss. You know what you have to do, you have done it before and you can do it again. This time, however, you have to change something, so you are not in the same place again this time next year.
With most dieters, including myself, actually losing weight and attaining our goal is possible. The hardest thing to do is the maintenance side after our diet success. We are all good for so long after achieving the weight loss but gradually it climbs back on.
OK, you say, what is the magic solution to this problem? Unfortunately I will have to admit there is no magic solution but there is a different way of trying to avoid this happening time after time. As soon as we see the scales going the wrong way, most of us start to panic and many of us actually go back to snacking as a stress relief. As we know, this does not work and all our previous efforts have been wasted and we go back on the diet roller coaster.
We must look at this, outside the square. The unimaginable has happened and the scales do not lie, so it must be true, we have put on weight. Instead of feeling negatively about this, try to focus on the positives. Yes, there are still many positives, with the first one being we have noticed this weight change before it has spiralled out of control.
This just may not be too hard. Instead of doing the same exercise you did before, try something different. Go to a gym and do a jazz exercise or another dance routine. It will be fun and those extra pounds will just disappear. If that is not your scene, perhaps swimming may be another option or even getting a group of friends together to have a friendly game of tennis. Introduce fun into this regaining your ideal weight and it will be a more positive you when you have achieved your goal again.
Smile a lot and focus on the positives and you will find you can achieve anything you set out to do.
